What is BPSC?
Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) is a constitutional body which conducts and selects aspirants for Civil Services in Bihar state through the mode of competitive examinations, and by Promotion which is granted to civil servants through its Departmental Promotion Committee.
What are the age criteria for BPSC Examinations?
Minimum Age Criteria : 20, 21 and 22 years (Depending upon the services)
Upper Age Limit:
General Category (Male): 37 years
General Category (Female): 40 years
BC/OBC (Male, Female): 40 years
SC/ST (Male, Female): 42 years
Note:
• For Persons with Disability (PwD), the upper age limit is relaxed by 10 years.
• Ex-servicemen who are not above 53 years of age, can avail BPSC age relaxation of three years plus the number of years in service.
Is there any restriction on the number of attempts in BPSC examinations?
• There is no restriction on the number of attempts as long as candidates have not attained the upper age limit.
• For government employees who have been in continuous service for at least three years:
1. Number of Attempts: 3
2. Relaxation in Upper Age Limit: 5 years
What are the educational qualifications needed to appear BPSC examinations?
A candidate must have Graduate degree from a recognised University or an equivalent qualification.
Can candidates from other states appear in BPSC examinations?
Yes. There is no linguistic or domicile criteria in BPSC examinations. However, the category-based reservation is available to permanent resident of Bihar only.
